Das Bild christlicher Themenkomplexe wird durchgehend von überholten Assoziationen geprägt. Die optische Aufbereitung christlicher Inhalte orientiert sich am grundkonservativen Stil vergangener Jahre. Dabei wird vergessen, dass sich unsere Wahrnehmung – vor allem die junger Erwachsener - hinsichtlich ästhetischer Mittel grundlegend verändert. Die Identifikation mit Inhalten über eine visuelle Sprache kann nicht stattfinden, da eine zielgruppenadäquate Ansprache nur selten angedeutet wird. Hinzu kommt, dass die Bibel als Grundlage aller christlichen Gesellschaftsformen und Wertesystemen für Christen wie auch Nicht-Christen durch die unüberschaubare Menge an Text und dem geringen Anteil visueller Entsprechungen nur schwer zugänglich ist.

Die Diplomarbeit gründet dabei auf der Idee, Aspekte des christlich-humanistischen Wertesystems und deren Bezug zum Alltag über eine interaktive Wandinstallation auf zeitgenössische, grundsätzlich visuelle, multimediale Art und Weise darzustellen.

Die Wandinstallation besteht aus einem Mural, welches sich stilistisch auf Street Art-Elemente stützt und mit analogen Techniken auf eine Wand aufgebracht wird. Street Art ist als Kommunikationsform der Jugendkultur bekannt und ist als Symbol subversiver Meinungsdarstellung im urbanen Kontext zentrales Mittel der gestalterischen Auseinandersetzung. Die Stadt als Heimat homogenisierter Denkweisen stellt den visuellen und konzeptionellen Bezug zur Arbeit her und greift auf Problematiken der informationsgesättigten, durchrationalisierten und funktional geprägten Gesellschaft zurück.

Die gestalterische Umsetzung fußt auf den immer wiederkehrenden Mix aus digitaler und analoger Bearbeitung: Es wird gesprüht, kopiert und gezeichnet, dann gescannt, bearbeitet und wiederum ausgedruckt. So werden ähnlich des Palimpsestierens immer mehr Ebenen hinzugefügt, überlagert und teilweise zerstört. Dabei wird die Analogie zur multiplen Überarbeitung christlicher Texte gestalterisch aufgenommen und stilistisch interpretiert.
          Das Mural wird durch drei interaktive Touchscreens ergänzt. Aspekte gesellschaftlicher Grundkomponenten, wie Identität, Gemeinschaft und Verantwortung, werden multimedial transportiert und provozieren die Intervention des Betrachters: Das Interaktionskonzept verdeutlicht Werte sowie grundsätzliche Problemstellungen, integriert den User in die Wertesystemik und fördert das Handeln wollen.

Der Charakter einer Installation ermöglicht dabei das Teilwerden des Betrachters und die mehrkanalige Vermittlung der Inhalte. Ziel des Projekts ist es, das Verständnis christlicher Werte als Beginn zu definieren und nicht als Ziel. Auf modernem Wege sollen relevante Grundwerte vermittelt und eine Auseinandersetzung mit der Herkunft und dem Thema an sich gefördert werden.



The image of christian ideas is constantly influenced by outdated associations. The visual adaption of christian contents is oriented towards the thoroughly conservative style of the past. At the same time people forget that our perception of aesthetic methods – especially that of young adults – changes fundamentally. The identification with contents can not take place due to the lack of an appropriate address of the target group. Additionally the bible, as the basis of all christian forms of society and value systems, is not very accessible because of its enormous amount of text and little amount of visual correspondence.

This thesis is based on the idea of presenting aspects of the christian and humanist value system and its correspondence to everyday life with the help of an interactive wall installation in a modern, basically visual and multi medial way.

The wall installation consists of a mural whose style is based on street art elements that are applied to the wall with analogue techniques. Street art is known as a form of communication of young people and functions as the symbol of subversive representation of opinions in an urban context via artistic examination. The city as the home of homogenized thinking establishes a visual and conceptional connection to this thesis. It also takes up the problems of a society which is saturated with information, rationalized and functional.

The artistic realisation is based on the reoccurring mixture of digital and analogue adaption: spraying, copying and drawing, then scanning, treating and once again printing. This way more and more layers are added, similar to a palimpsest. Some layers are overlapping, others partly destroyed. With this technique the multiple revisions of christian texts are interpreted analogously and stylistically.
          The mural is completed by three interactive touch screens. Aspects of social basics like identity, community and responsibility are being transported in a multi medial way and so provoke the intervention of an observer: This concept of interactivity explains values as well as basic problems. It integrates the user into the system of values and furthers the wish for interaction.

The characteristics of an installation allow the observer to become a part of it and at the same time mediate the content. This project wants to define the understanding of christian values as a beginning, not as a destination. It is the goal to mediate relevant basic values in a modern way, to further an examination of the origin and the topic as such.
